Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure designed to enhance the shape and size of your nose. Dr. McEwan has extensive experience in rhinoplasty techniques that are designed to give patients a natural result. Whether you're looking to improve the appearance of your nose or address functional concerns, rhinoplasty can be a transformative experience.
Why Consider Rhinoplasty?
· Cosmetic Enhancement: Rhinoplasty can help you achieve the nose shape you desire, enhancing overall facial harmony. The goal of surgery is to create a natural result that allows your best features to come to the forefront.
· Functional Improvement: If you face difficulties breathing due to structural issues with your nose, rhinoplasty can provide relief. Dr. McEwan will fully evaluate your nose and determine the root cause of the breathing issues.
The Consultation:
Open Communication: During your consultation, openly discuss your goals and concerns with your surgeon. You will have exclusive access to Dr. McEwan during your 1 hour surgical consultation. We encourage you to ask all the questions and bring photos that inspire you.
Digital Imaging: Dr. McEwan will use digital imaging during the consultation to help you visualize potential outcomes and ensure you both have a shared understanding of the anticipated surgical result. Although these images represent an approximation of what can be expected, it is an important step to understand your goals.
The Procedure:
Anesthesia: Rhinoplasty is typically performed under general anesthesia, ensuring you are comfortable and pain-free during the procedure. Dr. McEwan operates at a surgery center with the best trained staff and anesthesia experts to ensure a patient-centered experience.
Incisions: Incisions are strategically made, often within the nostrils or on the columella (the strip of skin between the nostrils), to minimize visible scarring.
Recovery:
Initial Healing: Bruising and swelling are common initially but will subside over time.
Final Results: It will likely take several months for the final results to fully manifest as your nose settles into its new shape. Generally within a few weeks, you can expect to see the general shape of your new nose, and the swelling will continue to improve over time.
