Brow transplantation is a cosmetic surgical procedure designed to address thin or absent eyebrows by transplanting hair follicles from one part of the body to the eyebrow area. This procedure is suitable for individuals seeking fuller, more defined eyebrows. Brow transplantation is a very effective solution for individuals looking to enhance their eyebrows, providing natural-looking results that can significantly improve facial aesthetics.
Procedure: Dr. McEwan will meet you in consultation to discuss your specific goals, assess candidacy, and plan the procedure. During this consultation, the surgeon evaluates the natural eyebrow shape, density, and symmetry as well as your goals for the procedure. The procedure is performed in our state of the art hair transplant center with the assistance of highly trained hair technicians who have a combined 20 year experience with this procedure.
One of the primary goals of the procedure is to make our patients comfortable and with as little pain as possible. We use several methods to help ensure that you have as little pain as possible during the procedure. Hair follicles are then harvested from a donor area, commonly the back of the scalp, where the hair closely matches the texture and quality of eyebrow hair.Tiny incisions are made in the eyebrow area where the hair will be transplanted. The surgeon carefully plans the placement and angle of the transplanted follicles to achieve a natural-looking result.
Recovery:
Patients may experience some swelling, redness, and scabbing in the eyebrow area, which usually subsides within a week. The initial transplanted hair may fall out within the first few weeks, but new hair growth typically begins within a few months. Final results become noticeable within 6 to 12 months, providing patients with fuller and more defined eyebrows. The transplanted hair will often require some degree of grooming to keep the length of brow hair uniform.
